How this Website Works: Sharing Experience

This Website helps people become health confident by organizing health information and tools. It allows people to share experiences. By using the website you also make the website better for future users.

And How You Can Get the Most Out of This Website

1. To begin to improve health confidence build your FIRST EDITION of your Personal Health Plan by going to HowsYourHealth.org and completing a survey that is right for you.

  • Use General HowsYourHealth unless you are very sick or frail or in the hospital. When you go to HowsYourHealth make sure you choose to create your personal health plan (PHP).
  • Use Very Sick or Frail  when you or your loved one often stays at home because of illness or uses hospice or a nursing home. Also choose the PHP
  • Use The Hospital Version if you or your loved one is in the hospital. Choose the PHP.

2. Now review your Personal Health Plan (HowsYourHealth PHP) and notice what it reports about your health confidence.

3. Unless you are already very confident and have nothing that needs improvement, pick something...anything...you might want to improve. Ask yourself "What could I do to increase my confidence ...for example from a 5 to a 7?" Put your idea in the PHP.

  • You can enter your ideas for improvement on your PHP and change them over time.
  • Most people find it best to work through their idea by using Problem Solving and adding the summary plan to the PHP. The Problem Solving website already summarizes thousands of responses you should find helpful.
  • Then keep track of your progress!!
  • If your ideas and plans really work for you consider sharing your results with others using this website. You will help the site become "smarter".

SHARING IDEAS AND EXPERIENCES

To organize good ideas and plan, every three months the HealthConfidence.org Blog lists two topics. For November through January, the topics will be: “The Usual Suspects” and “Immunological Soup.” (After the three-month period we review the comments, make needed changes to HealthConfidence.org and, if there is a sufficient interest, we make permanent the topic as a blog. Permanent topics may be linked to genuine research organizations so that users will benefit from the most up-to-date studies and emerging treatments).
